Foam Gaskets are of two types Open Cell and Closed Cell

Open Cell Foam gasket:

It is generally made out of polyurethane and is an extremely light, flexible, and very adaptable foam. Being flexible with open cells it has a very low compression, and can be compressed highly when compressed or weighed down by mechanical ventilation equipment and will return back to its form and shape. These should be used in systems with high vibration or shock operations. These can effectively seal a duct and remove all the extra dirt and debris.

Closed Cell Foam Gasket:

It is comparatively more durable and sturdy as it has compressed cells than an open cell foam. These foams are highly useful for outdoor application as the cells are closed and tight making it water resistant. Though it is much tougher than an open cell gasket, it loses its shape over time due to higher compression.

Silicon foams:

These foams are used for sealing applications or cushioning and can be used for operations like outdoor sealing, vibration protection,sealing of electronic equipment and protection from heat and shock from.

Polyurethane Foam:

It is an open cell foam. It is very durable and simple to work with. It can be used for thermal and acoustic insulation and as a dust sealing applicant.

Polyethylene Foam:

This type of foam is a closed cell type. It is highly useful for mold and fungus resistance and works for the removal of grease and chemicals. It is also useful for thermal resistance and works as a vibration Isolator.

Neoprene Foam:

Neoprene Foam is a closed type foam with a low density material. It is softer than Polyethylene Foam and is also very durable. It is applicable in places with high moisture as it absorbs the water and works as a moisture insulator.
