Design, Supply and Installation of Mechanical Ventilation duct with full system

Things to consider while Installation of Mechanical Ventilation Duct

So, even if you hire the best service professionals for installation, you need to be aware of some important mechanical aspects of the duct system.

Design: Ducts are long pipe-like structures that form a channel throughout your house to condition air and ensure a proper flow of hot and cold air from inside or outside. During installation make sure to plan out the whole mapping of the duct work because insufficient planning may lead to a lot of troubles afterwards. A proper design will ensure that the air is being properly supplied and pulled from the rooms and there is no friction or turbulence while the air flows through the ducts.

Air handling units also known as blowers are installed in the ductwork to supply or pull air from the rooms. Ducts are usually found in round, square, or rectangular shape.

Round shaped ducts are ideally used as they provide least resistance and are energy efficient. Due its shape providing no contact surfaces and high cross sectional area, it requires less energy to move the air due low pressure drops.

They also require less equipment for making, insulation and cover a small surface area compared to rectangular or square duct. Having no corners or sharp bends, these ducts reduce the chances of accumulation of dirt, grime or molds.

Size: A duct size should be made with careful calculations and design. Ask your hired professionals about the HVAC load for the entire building and calculate the accurate duct size. Duct sizing depends on a number of variables like HVAC system, air flow, air pressure, building size etc.

Installation: While the duct is being installed, you need to aware of the following installation parts:

Plenum, is an air distribution appliance that is located near the fan or heat exchanger. It is responsible for circulating the conditioned air after it has been heated or cooled to the rooms. A duct responsible for carrying the air is connected directly to the plenum.

Supply Air Plenum: The supply air duct is used to transfer the heated or cooled to the building air after it has been conditioned by the HVAC system. After being conditioned to the desired temperature and humidity it then travels to the Air handling unit and from there it reaches the return air plenum through the duct system.

Return Air Plenum: The HVAC system supplies air to the rooms as well as pulls it out. If the air is not pulled out then a pressure will be created inside the room by bringing heat , humidity and contaminants causing an uncomfortable indoor environment. Return ducts are installed to supply the indoor air outdoors through outlets called Grilles

Location: The right location of the duct system plays a major role in the air flow and working of the duct and other parts. Ductwork is generally located in the attic, the basement or ceilings and should be installed within a conditioned space of the building.

A professionally installed hood of the appropriate type for your kitchen will ensure that you can have a safe and hygienic kitchen atmosphere, as well as that the safety of you and your food is not jeopardised.
