HomeElementsMechanical Ventilation System

WHAT WE OFFERConsider various mechanical and electrical aspects while installing a Duct System.

LOCATION
During installation make sure to plan out the whole mapping of the duct work because insufficient planning may lead to a lot of troubles afterwards. A proper design will ensure that the air is being properly supplied and pulled from the rooms and there is no friction or turbulence while the air flows through the ducts. Ducts should always be installed in the conditioned envelope of the building . Ducts should not be installed in places like crawl space or the attic as they cannot receive the heated or cold air and a large amount of energy will be lost
Ducts are usually found in round, square, or rectangular shape.
SIZE
The duct size should be made in accordance with the design of the house or building. If the air is to be transferred to a lot of rooms and areas a large duct is preferred and small duct sizes are preferred for smaller areas. Not having the perfect size can lead to either poor air flow or excess flow leading to loss of energy as well as money.Duct sizing depends on a number of variables like HVAC system, air flow, air pressure, building size etc
PERFORMANCE
Plenum is an important part installed in the duct to ensure a proper air flow.
Plenum, is an air distribution appliance that is located near the fan or heat exchanger. It is responsible for circulating the conditioned air after it has been heated or cooled to the rooms. A duct responsible for carrying the air is connected directly to the plenum.
A Supply plenum carries heated or cooled inside the rooms whereas Return air Plenum carries the exhaust air and humidity out of the rooms.
TYPE OF DUCT
Round shaped ducts are ideally used as they provide least resistance and are energy efficient. Due its shape providing no contact surfaces and high cross sectional area, it requires less energy to move the air due low pressure drops.
They also require less equipment for making, insulation and cover a small surface area compared to rectangular or square duct. Having no corners or sharp bends, these ducts reduce the chances of accumulation of dirt, grime or molds.

It is a common method to install a mechanical ventilation system or a system that has some kind of forced ventilation to control the temperature and pressure of air flowing in and out of the building. These systems are generally used for large homes or commercial buildings or some place where there is lack of fresh air

The airflow in the mechanical ventilation system is possible because of the duct system installed in attics, ceilings, basement, floors etc.

Ductwork design and installation can be a really complex process and will require complete attention on the design of the system, the correct size of duct for the building or house, materials used to make up ductwork and an accurate understanding of the heating and cooling load calculations.

With a properly planned out and installed duct system, it can last 12-15 years , and providing it with regular maintenance services and changing the filter once every three weeks will guarantee you an efficient working system by increasing its work life.

The HVAC system installed in modern buildings and homes is designed to provide: Fresh and conditioned air, Balanced indoor temperature for thermal comfort and Regulating humidity levels inside the rooms and all this is regulated through a system of ducts which makes the airflow possible.
